Hello,
I've benn having problems soldering surface mount chips, like the FET
SOIC16 switch ICs. Often, when I power up, the chips become really hot
and simply don't work. I was wondering if you guys can give me advice
for this. I don't apply the iron for too long, but still it is likely
that I'm overheating the ICs.
I've been thinking about buying a weller WESD51 soldering iron station,
which has a temperature control knob 350F to 850F. Do you know any
recommended temperatures or procedures? Are there any special features
on soldering irons I should look for?
