Jean-Claude,
I don't know much that project, but from what I know it is based on
a final conversion at an IF of 15 kHz of the signal found in an
otherwise standard Rx. If this is the case, you can refer to Case 1)
of my past message Re: SDR and the need of I/Q signals.
And the answer to your question is yes, if the image rejection has
been already taken care of by preceding circuitry, having the mixer
giving I and Q just doubles the band coverage, but there are no other
advantages.
