I did some more tests on my AD9959 board this evening. The board uses a
125MHz can oscillator. I measured the board current consumption at various
multiplier setting.

Mult. Current(Amps)

None .22
X4 .37
X5 .42
X6 .47

Note that with a X6 multiplier, the internal clock was 750MHz. I was getting
correct
output frequencies at that speed(I tried X7 or 875MHz internal - it appeared to
lock at
X6 instead). So, apparently these 500MHz rated chips will overclock!!

I could hardly tell the AD9959 was warm with the finger test. The only thing
that got
fairly warm was the 1.8V regulator(it was being fed with 5V). My scope only
goes to
20MHz,. But, the squarewaves and the phase offsets looked ok up to
10MHz(didn't
try above that due to the scope). I was able to verify proper frequency output
up to
175MHz with my cheap frequency counters. I also programmed 3856KHz and
listened on my receiver. Sounded like a pure tone with no hum.
