I just did a little experimenting with my PCB layout program. With the same 1.5" X 3.5" board, it appears that I will be able, by placing the filters vertically rather than horizontally, to have all 6 filters be 7 pole elliptic filters rather than the 3 pole Cheb. I had. I also plan on putting a small 1:1 transformer on the input as well as separating the supply ground from the RF ground. The coils will be SM1008 size and the capacitors 0805. I will extend the pads in the middle some to accommodate smaller devices(some of the coils on the original design were 0603). I may or may not be able to keep the SMA connectors. I also found that the AADE filter program(free on their site) does design elliptic as well as other types of filter. RFSIM99 does not design elliptic filters(though it will analyze the design if drawn in the schematic).
