Sorry for getting back sooner, I was pretty busy.
The two transformers are basically useful in many ways. There are some
differences between the two transformers, the power spliter can handle more
power, and is good to 1GHz, but doesn't do so good below 5MHz. The 1:4
transformer is good from 60KHz to 300MHz a very good frequency range giving
good performance on the HF and below, while good enough to be usefull into
the 220MHz band.
Some uses of the transformers;
1. As a transformer that isolates and feeds a center tap winding to be used
in feeding a QSD detector. One transforemer 1:1 and good to 1GHz, The other
is 1:4 for experiments win a higher impedance QSD, it gives you gain
without added noise.
2. They are useful as coupling transformers in either a RF amplifier in a
receiver or in the driver stages of a transmitter, with two different sets
of impedances ranges. The primary/secondary windings are really
interchangable so with the two transformers you have a variety of impedance
matching capability.
The MMIC is a easy to use amplifier with predictable input and output
impedance. There are many available and some quite cheap ($0.50), but this
one has some interesting properties, mainly its very low noise and it's
high IP3 figures 38dBm, it can also provide quite a bit of power output
+19dBm. It would make a very good receiver front end amplifier, due to it's
high IP3 and low noise figure, good into the GHz range. It could also be
used as a driver in a transmitter providing amplification, good drive
capability, and again good into the GHz range.
Hope it helps.
