I am trying to learn about microwave bandpass filters. The last few
days I've been looking at interdigital filters, quarter line
transmission filters, SAW, PCB traces. Do you have any good references
on printed circuit board bandpass filter? I am studying a Rick
Campbell articles from the ARRL (A single board no tune 902MHGZ
Transverter) but it doesn't explain how to get the dimensions of the C
traces. (BTW, what's the correct techincal term for that?)
-------------------------

They are usually referred to as coupled lines. The dimensions are
usually generated by CAD programs, some of which are available free of
charge (such as Sonnet Lite).

This thread is getting a bit off-topic for the Soft_radio group; if
anybody wants get involved with microwaves then a good source of
information can be found on the microwaves reflector :-

http://www.wa1mba.org/reflect.htm

and follow the link or mail me off-list.

Microwaves is a fascinating part of amateur radio; it's developing all
the time and the introduction of SDR into the microwave world will help
to encourage experimentation with new circuit techniques, modulation
methods etc. etc.
