Most Radio Amateur articles on 160M are describing antennas used for transmitting, or very high efficiency receiving. Most 'domestic' radios are not designed for weak signal strengths, as the broadcasters can run very high power to very large antennas, so the received signal strength is alot higher than the Radio Amateur signals. However, there are a number of sites with designs for ferrite rod antennas. I googled on "medium wave ferrite rod antenna" and found the following quite quickly... http://www.st-andrews.ac.uk/~jcgl/Scots_Guide/RadCom/part7/page5.html http://www.radio-electronics.com/info/antennas/ferrite_rod_antenna/ferrite_rod_antenna.php http://web.telia.com/~u85920178/rx/reflex_rx.htm (There is a section on designing and building a ferrite rod antenna, although the main article is about building a receiver) You might also want to consider a loop antenna, like the ones described at http://www.arar93.dsl.pipex.com/mds975/content/aerials1.html Dave (G0DJA)
