I use a lamp with a ring florescent lamp and that works OK, but I want something better. At work they were getting rid of a Cannon Table Scanner so I picked it up, it had never been used. It's a table with two adjustable light sources and a video zoom camera on a tilted column. You hook it up to a flat screen monitor and it will give you a close up of your work area with up to 24" distance between the work area and the camera. It can go from 1X to 30X so I'm looking forward to using it, the only problem is I don't have room on my bench for the darn thing, I'll work on that this summer.
