Hi,

The USB is the USB to serial port apapt that I used to give the server
a real serial port, its a  mini itx system with no serial port because
as you know many newer systems dont come with rs-232

Yes I could have used a VNC app like UltraVNC / PCRemote ( I use
UltraVNC at work) etc, but I am also streaming the audio to the
laptop, I found the delay sometimes in audio about 3 seconds.

So I was thinking by reducing the traffic from the p3 to the laptop
would be idea, serial tcp/ip bridge would take a lot less than a VNC
connection.
