[soft_radio] question about tapping the IF of a radio and using WinRAD?

Is there any reason that I cannot use a modified WinDRM IF adapter 
tapped into the IF of a scanner or 2 meter radio to convert down to 
48khz IF for muliti-mode reception using the soft_radio software?
