I'm just testing vdr, but I'm coming from a mythtv / xorg setup. TV  
and recordings where OK (but high cpu) on myth without hardware  
decoding, but when watching dvd's frames are dropped. Maybe without  
the overhead of xorg vdr will cope with that without any hardware  
decoding :) So for mythtv / dvd's under xorg I consider hw decoding a  
must have, for vdr I don't know yet :) But I do think that switching  
to a slower fanless epia is out of the question now...
