As someone mentioned before (maybe dropped off the list) you could try a
surface deform instead of a curve deform/extrude. Pre-extrude the belt and
curve-deform it to a grid, starting from the ammobox to the gun. You'll
probably always end up with having not enough control over the
roll/bank/tangency of the profile, but I would give it a try..

That stuff would be much easier if we had cardinal curves in XSI.

I also remember an addon from Mr. Kim Aldis that did much better exrusions
with nice control over the tangencies on a extruded surface ("KAExtrude" or
something). Don't know if it was commercial or free.

sven

I need to create an ammo belt. For this, I have a minigun with the input
slot, and an ammo box, with the output slot. I have a curve for the belt,
and a cross-section. What I need is the ability to set both the start and
the end profile. Otherwise, the behavior of the ending crossection is not
predictable…

Hi Szabolcs,

I'm not sure to understand correctly, but it looks like you need something
similar to a "Bridge Polygons", but with the ability to add some cross
sections evenly spaced along the bridge right ?

I made a little prototype using ICE modeling : picture

It was just an excuse to play with ICE ;-), but maybe it will help or give
you some ideas.

Hey folks,

Does anybody know, if there is solution to the following issue. I have a
minigun and an ammo backpack. I have to make the ammo belt. I have to make
sure, that the beginning and the ending cross-section fits into the slots.
Technically I want to make sure, that the extrusion starts from a given
profile and ends in a given profile without any roll and so on that used the
happen in XSI.

Huh
