This might be a long shot but try opening your scene's .scntoc file in a text editor. You may be able to find something in there that you can alter or get rid of to help open your scene.
One case in which this worked for me was when I had about 30+ multi-resolution reference models in one scene and I accidentally saved and closed the scene while all the models were set to their highest res. Opening the scntoc file allowed me to set the model res all back to their lowest resolution and after that I was able to open the scene.
