I had experience with motion control before - not sure what make it was - but the operator who was an awesome guy ex DD gave me excel spreadsheet files with all the data in, and I used a script that someone at that time had handily written to connect to excel to pull in the data - was not very difficult, but was a while ago now - I can see if I still have those scripts if you like as I should imagine it is highly likely they can give you something simlar.
Or xml - not difficult to parse using python or text files should be easy to parse and extract data from S.
