Tried that plus "runonce.bat" and neither fixed it.

Sadly I just did a complete uninstall - reinstall and I'm getting the same
result.  XSI.exe sits at 0% CPU taking 7 megs of ram.

The event viewer doesn't show anything either - very strange!
