I feel the initial intention here is getting misconstrued. the point isn't if or when they close this list.
It's not about jabbing AD in the eye either. The list might always be here, it's the people that will be leaving. Gradually people will probably look for other sources and answers to their new questions, or maybe they will feel alienated for not using SI any more, some people might just want to distance themselves from the whole tragic affair. The idea was make a provision (be it new list or forum) so that everyone from the old list has a place to come back too whether they are still using SI or have moved on to another soft, to preserve that fantastic font of knowledge, and the people that make it possible.
