It is looking very promising since the GPUs are becoming every day more accessible. Nvidia has given a green light for a GTX780 6gb RAM, so similar to a Titan but costing only $550us. They are also developing "Brigade" a photorealistic game engine http://brigade3.com/ which will work "in theory" with your octane shaders.
