It might be related to refactoring of selection we did for 2015. To enable to the old selection system, you can set environment variable XSI_DISABLE_NEW_PICK=1

In SI2013, when you activate Xray display mode, you can select objects behind, whitin and around objects. In SI2015, this is impossible, or disabled by default. You can see it, but can’t select it.
