Hi Leendert, The optimization affects rectangular selection. Single-click selection is unaffected.
Specifically, it kicks in when: - Doing a sub component selection (i.e points, edges, polygon etc.) - Doing multi-selection (e.g. shift-key held down) in object selection mode.
