3D Coat is a nice sculpt / paint / retopo software that does a lot for a relative small price (half of Zbrush's). I use it mainly for tex painting and I'm still testing it's sculpting tools.
I find ZBrush a little more friendly than years ago. Still a little tricky to get used to its weird interface, but in a few days you should be using it smoothly. I use ZB for sculpting because I'm more comfortable with it, you have thousands of learning material, it is pretty much the standard in the industry and sometimes I need to deliver my ZB data too.
