At that size, maximised  windows would become super large! So you might want to consider some window management software.

I remember (of) a good free one but don't remember it's name, but will post if I find it.

I just bought a couple of Dell 2415 (24" 16:10 IPS, mid-end) and so far it's pretty good. I always use 24" (1920x1200) x2.

This monitor has sRGB 99% coverage and is pre-calibrated (deltaE < 3), and for the price I'm more than satisfied. For those who need extremely high color quality, the 6bit+FRC IPS panel, only 99% sRGB and unknown Adobe RGB coverage may not be good enough.

I don't use, nor need Adobe RGB at all and can't notice any dithering, so it is good enough for me, and the slim frame is sexy, specially using duals.

It is about $320 in Japan and It seems you may have a 37% discount in USA.

The only thing I didn't like is that I had to buy new cables because it doesn't have DVI ports, only DP, Mini DP and HDMI.

Your concerns ar what is keeping me from just going ahead and ordering one.  I'd like to see one in the wild and see it run off a DVI output before I drop that much money on it

Thanks for the link Ed. What you say makes sense in regards to space instead of having multiple monitors.
I also thought about getting a tv as a monitor some weeks ago, but the color accuracy & quality for 3d work scares me a bit as I've said on a previous message (specially as what I do most is lookdev/textures & lighting and some comp)  If I dont know someone that have used one yet for cg related stuff I will need to trust amazon user reviews on that matter...
have you used one of those previously?

cheers

I have 2 23" and on 22" on my desk now .  I could use the 50" and get back half the desk area these 3 occupy and have nearly twice the # of pixels, and no split bezels

I'm thinking VERY seriously about using a Vizio 50" 4K TV as a monitor...
