This is for use in a different app, which doesn't have any mechanism like pick sessions. Thanks for the direction, that makes sense.

If so, you have to compare the state of the "selection" in a while loop until there's a change, the tricky thing of this is that you would have to use threads in order to keep your software responsive during the loop.

If your Qt tool is running within Softimage, you can simply rely on the SDK calling PickObject/PickElement command.
