Thanks Eric- works a treat, and proves that there is quite an overhead with
the alembic properties - scrubbing is much faster on the plotted geometry.
Unfortunately the problem with the geometry persists - I get instant
crashes when opening a renderregion :/

I will see if I can fix it by dotxsi or fbx IO.
