Alright, thanks Luc-Eric. Well then it seeems, they have changed it a bit. If you turn off that feature, performance is restored immediatly.
After all, not a biggie. It just took me a while to figure out what the problem was. sven From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Luc-Eric Rousseau Sent: Sunday, March 20, 2016 1:37 AM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: Using viewport stats will slow down interaction speed If they added that in 2015, they shouldn't have... It sounds like it's the same problem that Edit->Info Scene: showing the number of triangle causes the mesh to be triangulated and that blow up in term of CPU and GPU ram and additional processing. Unfortunately, once that triangulation has been done, you're screwed (i.e. everything is slower) until you reload the scene. So you'd need to check that off, save (because it's a camera property) and then reload the scene to measure the result. Normally, meshes are not triangulated, they are stored as polygons instead of huge arrays of triangles. Playback speed isn't affected but interaction speed is greatly reduced when using the viewport stats. It came to my attention when I was comparing video cards with benchmark scenes in XSI. A scene runs smooth in Softimage2011 an lagged as hell in 2015. I tested on two machines with the same result. It happens when 'Show Polymesh Polygons Info' is activated, which was introduced in version 2015. I tested on two machines with the same result. Don't think it's a gaming vs quadro thing but can anyone confirm this with a quadro? cheers, sven
