I have just ordered MC9S08SH8 chips from Mouser. This newly released 20
pin DIP chip can run up to 5 volts which will eliminate the 74C906 and
all those resistors in the LCD and keyboard interfaces. I've been
waiting on this chip and was surprised to find it available today. The
existing MC9S08QG8 code should slip right in with minimal change if any
:-) The extra I/O pins make this a nice all around chip for projects. So
the Si570 controller just got smaller. Also I ordered 24AA32A EEPROMs
which will store 1024 frequencies which more reasonable and cheaper :-)
