But, why limit the thinking with 6rd to only viewing
it as a "transition mechanism"? Transition mechanism
innovation was deemed complete in 2002 with the closing
of NGTRANS, the emergence of v6ops, and the declaration
of IPv6 as "operational". Yet, we still have IPv4 in
widespread deployment and use and no sign of that use
abating.

6rd already has us on a trajectory to deploy a *pretty
good* IPv6 service in coexistence with IPv4. So, why not
take the small additional step to make it *great*?
