Hardware store bolts are fine. I replaced all my bolts with stainless ones, 
actually, and sold the same kits to several other list members over the years.

Go ahead and use an easy-out. You might find it easier to remove if you 
take off the cam chain tensioner unit first...I replaced the three bolts 
holding that on the engine with stainless too, BTW.
