Is the metal trim on the outside of the rear sprocket purely decorative?
 My opinion is that the metal plate or trim on the rear sprocket is to help
prevent wheel jamming by a jumped chain. The hope is that the chain would
derail onto this ring instead of tangling in the swingarm/axle area, which
could get very nasty.
