The exhaust flanges are interchangeable, simple bolt on and off.

The difference between very early and later heads is that the later used
tube type seals around the studs and the holes were machined to accept steel
sleeves. I also seem to recall that the K0 head had one 6mm bolt less than
the later ones. Easy way is to change heads and barrels. Later heads also
had a removeable oil spigot under the cam tower whilst the early ones were
fixed.  i.e. all of the later heads up to K7 and F2 are interchangeable and
will even fit the very early models if you use the corresponding barrels.
