Yes there were different profile needles but the numbers seemed arbitrary
and not related to any measurement that I could ever work out. Best always
to stick with the standard needles and needle jets for your carbs. Is your
motor 736 or big bore?. Float levels OK?. If the carbs were ever even
slightly corroded or the metal feels rough inside the float chamber, check
very carefully that the main jet/emulsion tube pedestal isn't cracked,
usually a horizontal crack about half way up. Ummm - you do have the slide
cutaways facing the air filter side, don't you. I've never had the need to
alter slide cutaways. Start the needle clip settings at the centre notch.
Check needle jets for wear, they'll appear slightly oval if they are worn.
