Time for me to bite the bullet, before the '78 550K bites the dust. I'm 
looking for brand and supplier suggestions, good and bad, for buying a 
gasket and seals kit for the upper end and ignition parts.

  It's got oil leaks at the crankcase up to the head. Plus, I'll need to 
replace the coils/wires/caps. This one has the non-replaceable wires. I'm 
considering rebuilding from the points to the plugs.

The carbs have been good since the last rebuild of the slow jets, but it 
seems to run lean after I pulled what was left of the baffles out of all 
four pipes. Should I raise the needles on the slides when I'm done?

Winter is slowly going away, but the real riding season won't start for 6 
weeks around the big lake. Should be enough time to get it ready.
