AFAIK sendmail queues every message and then at given intervals polls
the message queue and process messages that are there. So, no you're
not right, as sendmail doesn't batch messages. I think that you can
change polling interval in config file of sendmail ( depends on you
sendmail version )

Yes, solve DNS issue there. Are you sure that your system know what is
the IP of mail exchanger of yyyy.com ? Are you sure that your system
asks DNS server that knows the answer ? Try nslookup and type
yyyy.com for example.
