I have the same problem - was just upgrading to Solaris 9 in hope that would
help. Will get the patch...

Once I've got it, can I parturition the unused space or will I have to
reformat the disk?

Peter

Sparc5

try updating the OBP.

I have an Ultra 10 (the same motherboard etc..) with a 80gig ide disk.

latest OBP:
OBP_3.31.0,POST_3.1.0,OBDIAG_P2.9
patch 106121-18
details from sun say for mem:

Four DIMM slots
Install DIMMs in pairs (16 MB, 32 MB, 64 MB, and 128 MB DIMMs); quad
provides best performance
512 MB maximum

but i've installed 1 gig in the Ultra 5, but i had to remove the floppy to
get the DIMMS in as the 256M dimms are much taller, the floppy won't fit in.

hope this helps
