I don't understand this one at all; it's completely whacked to me.
I have been trying to get to port 1521 on my Solaris 9 server so that I can work with Oracle on that server. However, suddenly that port is not available. My netadmin insists that the firewall is allowing the connection, and I can find no settings on my own computer which would block the traffic (I've tried three separate computers, two on-site and one remote).
What could cause a port to suddenly be unavailable like that? It was available last week at this time, which was the last time I accessed it.
I apologize if this is an incredibly elementary question.
Quick follow-up. Sorry I forgot to include this information.
The server is working. I can ping it just fine and telnet to it just fine. I've executed ps -ef and can see that the Oracle processes are running.
