Hi,

I have a server with a couple of hard disk and it looks to me like (at
least) one of them is spinning down when there are a few seconds of
inactivity.

Consistent usage provides great performance but once I let the system
sit idle for around 30 seconds a subsequent command takes a long time
to start. If I'm sitting by the machine I hear some whirring and
clicking.

Is this possible? If so, how do I prevent it? I checked the BIOS and
there didn't seem to be any settings to control power management.

The system is:
Solaris 10 x86
Intel SE7500CW2 (Dual Xeon)

Disks:
Vendor 'Gen-ATA ' Product 'Maxtor 6Y160P0'
Vendor 'Gen-ATA ' Product 'IC35L080AVVA07-0'
(neither one of these seem to have a jumper to prevent spin-down)

Thanks,
Mark
