I'm new to both Sun hardware and Solaris. We are getting approximately 11 V490s, 2 V240s and 1 V440 to support an ERP.
At this point all the servers will run Solaris 9. The DB will be Oracle 9i with Oracle 10g IAS (is that the correct term?). A SAN is in the plan, looks like it will be a Sun 6130. I'm looking for advice/recommendations on tools that are included with Solaris 9 and what third party tools are used to monitor/audit/patch 14 servers. Some of the tools that we have talked about are: Veritas Volume Manager - it is believed this will come in handy for the servers connected to the SAN Veritas File System - some believe this in needed along with Veritas Volume Manager One question we have is can we use Solaris Volume Manager and StorEdge SAN Foundation Software instead of Veritas Volume Manage and Veritas File System? Do we gain or lose? Veritas NetBackup - to backup both SAN files and internal disk files Legato ??? - for backup, SAN and internal disk Systems Navigator - to monitor systems performance and status, both current and long term. Also, tools to check patch status and help with coordinating patch updates. How useful is Solaris Management Console for monitoring/auditing 14 servers? thanks for any incites, words of wisdom, URLs, Glen Gunselman Emporia State University _______________________________________________ Solaris-Users mailing list [email protected] http://www.filibeto.org/mailman/listinfo/solaris-users
