It depends on what are you aiming for. Veritas has nice(r) GUI, and
sometimes is easier to manage, especially if you are using RAIDs
across multiple ( i.e. 5-10 ) drives, controllers, etc.
If you'll use it to mirror root disks, and then use some hardware RAID
for the data disks then SDS will be enough IMHO.

I have experience with Sun StorEdge Enterprise Backup Software and
L25. Nice software, easy to setup with lot's of features - it can back
up Windows, DBs, Unix-es etc.
I still have no enough experience maintaining the thing, but for now
it looks nice.
