hi List,

We have had a solaris V210 box given to us to host and fix, it was thought
that ld.so.1 was at fault, so it was suggested that we should copy the file
from /etc/ to /usr/lib as they appeared to be the same, but before we coped
of the offending file, it was saved as a copy via cp -p.

Needles to say that this had the effect of shooting ourselves in the foot...so
to get back out of the fault, booted off an install CD, mounted the file
system and renamed back from the copy to it's original file name. But now at
the end of booting we get errors about /proc not being able to be mounted and
a lot of "ILLEGAL instruction"'s.

Help..!!!

Does anyone have a clue as to what has gone wrong and/or how we might be able
to fix it..

I don't understand how renaming a file to a backup name and then back again
could end up with the error above.

Thanks for reading ....
