catch more than one person as most are used to the solaris 8/9 way of doing
things (which is to start /etc/init.d/....).

found in these little beasties.

>> Agreed; reinstalling any part of a OS, especially one so ingrained, is
not appealing in any sense of the word. That being said, I believe you can
search for the specific package on sunsolve or bigadmin or sunfreeware to
get it and try just re-loading the package itself.

>> I don't think anyone on any mailing list would see this as ungracious
and though the majority of the answers is patch, patch, patch, believe it or
not it can resolve a ton of issues. That being said, did you check the
following?

1. check the service status? svcs -l wbem
Once you do that post it so we can see what you got and more
importantly, you can see some detailed information on the service, if its
running well or not and where specific logs are for it.

2. Have you tried running dtrace on it to see what's going on?

3. How about debugging it; check out
www.filibeto.org/sun/lib/solaris10-docs/817-0366.pdf. There is some good
info in there but not the entire picture (more like a springboard).

Hopefully this helps out a little more; between this and the log file(s)
contents there should be a good start to figuring out what the issue is with
this.

Again, let us know how it goes!
