Also ensure that you have the latest patch sets and java patches and check
/var/adm/messages and /var/log (look for last modified file) and check there
for more specific errors.  It honestly sounds like it was not installed
correctly and/or the installation was corrupt in some fashion (it happens, I
have had images from Sun/M$/Novell/etc... that download ok, burn ok, but
install with problems.  Let us know how it goes!
