I've just opened a SR with Sun (Oracle) and their first level support guy said it's probably related the Marvell chips and the driver - possibly the newer driver from Sol 10u8 does not interact nicely with a possibly too old firmware. I'll try to remember to post updates here if we solve it. As the new build, we have one box right now we are experimenting with (also with a SSD inside) which is going through various test installs right now, OpenSolaris will also be one of the candidates.
