I think the downside of that hierarchy is that you will need the "modules" directory if you're working on Lucene, and with Solr under "modules/solr", you'll have to get all of Solr, too. If Solr were a thin layer for sharding, I agree that would be a good place for it... but as things stand, that's gonna be one big "modules" checkout. Marvin Humphrey
