I've got the SonicWall Pro-VX, and the group SA enabled. I've installed the VPN client for XP that I just got yesterday, and now I'm kind of stumped. I've never gotten a reply from Sonicwall previously about VPN questions, so I'm hoping someone here can help.
>From the documentation I've gotten from their site, it looks like the 2K (and thus I'm assuming my new XP) client needs a public IP address. Is this the case? The PDF files I've looked at talk about giving the software your public IP for the client who wants to VPN, yet a peer in the area that I know could swear that one of his clients is using the VPN client on 2000 at people's homes, on dynamic IP addressing cable modems. Is it possible to set it up in that situation? Is there any way to use it on a dialup connection (for my dialup users I support) that uses DHCP, or to use it from behind a NAT box where you're on a private address range on the adapter going through a NAT box or server? Sorry for the questions - I've been dealing with networks, servers, etc for years and years, but this is the first hardware firewall I've been able to "play" with, so I'm lacking experience in the VPN client software other than that which is bundled with the operating systems for Microsoft VPN servers...
