Hi all,

for those of you utilizing sonicwall's vpn feature, I have a question. What are the general feelings on des vs 3des encryption?  Obviously 3des is more secure, but how secure is des?  Doing google searches, des seems to be somewhat laughed at, but Sonicwall states that DES is safe for all but the most sensitive information...I will be testing the 3des throughput versus the des throughput in the near future to see just what the performance impact is. We have the sonicwall pro with a 233 processor and never more than 5 concurrent vpn sessions going at the same time.  Is this processor enough to handle 5 simultaneous 3des vpn sessions?(as I will only be able to test it with one session at a time after hours)  What are your opinions as of the security of des, very secure, or don't bother with it?

thanks again

Jeff
