Could this be it?

Question:Is it possible to force the SonicWall to use aggressive mode IKE
instead of main mode?

Answer:It is possible to force the SonicWall to use aggressive mode IKE
instead of main mode for individual security associations. There is no
global setting for this.

1. From the VPN/Summary page select the security association (SA) you wish
to force to use aggressive mode.

2. On the SA configuration page click the Advanced Settings button.

3. In the next Window check the option to use aggressive mode and click the
OK button.

4. On the SA configuration page click the Update button.

Please note: This setting should only be used in cases where it is required
to use aggressive mode when the SonicWall would normally use main mode.
This should only be necessary in limited cases when creating a VPN
connection to a third-party VPN server. This setting is not necessary when
connecting to another SonicWall.

If the SonicWall is set up as a DHCP, PPPoE, or L2TP client on the
General/Network page it will use aggressive mode IKE and this setting is
not needed. For the other connection methods main mode will be used.
