One other thing you could do is use an e-mail gateway service, like what we
offer.

In this type of service, your public MX record(s) point to a 3rd party mail
server. This server scans all messages for viruses and spam. It then
forwards the scanned "clean" message to your mail server.

Example, we currently process about 2250 messages per day. Each message is
run against almost 30 different tests, some being IP databases like SpamCop,
some being filters, and others run against the information in the headers of
the e-mail. About 25% of those are determined to be SPAM and are either
deleted right away if they are blatant enough, or reviewed and determined to
be legit or spam. If legit, they are placed into the delivery folder.

All of our clients greatly appreciate this service, as it has cut down on
the amount of SPAM going into a users mail box by close to 90 percent.

If anyone is interested in more information on how this service works,
please let me know.

We do have discounts for educational institutions.
