They are waiting to return, but the living conditions in Kosovo and Metohija are not improving. Only 2000 people have returned in seven years. The remaining 140 thousand Serbs, which is how many live in Kosovo and Metohija, shall continue to leave if the Albanians continue to fire upon them every day. 2. The Serbian government's coordinator for Kosovo, Sanda Raskovic Ivic told Jessen Petersen that Kosovo is a black hole when it comes to human rights, blaming the international community for not doing its job there. Since the continuing talks on Kosovo's final status started last October, 186 ethnically motivated incidents against Serbs have taken place, including two murders and 20 serious injuries. There will soon be no Serbs in Kosovo if the present situation continues, Raskovic Ivic told Jessen Petersen in a letter. On the 9th and 10th of June of 1999, the Kumanovo Peace Agreement was signed, and Resolution 1244 of the UN Security Council was adopted. A full seven years are behind us, and there is no time better than the present to question ourselves which direction we have taken in the last seven years. There are many reasons for many people in the world to claim, since numerous proof does exist, that Serbs were deceived by the international community. Not only in Kosovo and Metohija, however to the greatest extent, with the strongest pain and the most brutal manner in Kosovo and Metohija. NATO and UNMIK entered the territory of Kosovo and Metohija in order to ensure the observance of human rights and freedoms for people, as well as the territorial integrity of a sovereign state. Today, Kosovo and Metohija is a black hole when it comes to human rights, and many democratic countries keep assaulting the territorial integrity of Serbia through the means of their officials and lobbyists. At present, the existing situation makes us wonder whether the future will see any Serb at all in Kosovo and Metohija. If the ongoing policy of the Provisional Institutions persists, is there going to be anyone else there, save for the Albanians? What is it that UNMIK and the international community actually do to make Kosovo and Metohija truly multi-ethnic? The Serbs, dear Mr. Petersen, are the most endangered ethnic group in Europe. And as such in Kosmet, under the jurisdiction of the UN, NATO, USA and EU. Today an ethnocide is being carried out in Europe in front of the international police force who simply look the other way, not wishing to see the reality. And the reality is that Serbs are existentially threatened, they do not have the basic, the first amongst all rights the right to live. In these circumstances they also dont have the right to work, move freely etc. and their right to be informed is also being threatened. The only thing they have is Serbia which is helping as much as it can. However, Serbia too faces problems a new one was raised recently by UNMIK, contained in the decision which no longer allows distribution of the Serbian press. UNMIK claims it all has to do with taxes which need to be regulated, however, UNMIK is surely aware that Serbs pay taxes. Every time they have to save their very lives, Serbs are asked to pay tax and renounce at least some of their Serbian characteristics, something Serbian and a bit or Serbia, only to save their lives. Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija have been paying this type of tax for the last seven years, while the international community is merely an onlooker or a participator. In 2004 Serbian holy sites were burned. Until now, they havent been rebuilt. Even today evil people are desecrating the altars of churches and monasteries built by the Serbs seven centuries ago.
