Priština media: Del Ponte in service of Belgrade 20 June 2007 | 18:26 | Source: Beta *PRIŠTINA -- Carla Del Ponte’s recommendation <http://www.b92.net/eng/news/%27After%20a%20period%20of%20120%20days,%20if%20the%20discussions%20fail,%20the%20resolution%20will%20call%20...>to delay a decision Kosovo’s status is the topic of hot debate in the province. * Priština-based dailies are almost unanimous in their opinion that the chief Hague prosecutor stepped outside her jurisdiction. “The statement cannot be qualified as anything other than scandalous and interfering in international politics,” Zeri said in an opinion piece Wednesday. The paper goes on to claim that Del Ponte was out to “collectively punish the people of Kosovo due to a lack cooperation on the part of the Serbian authorities, regarding arrest of murderers and criminals such as Mladić.” Koha Ditore speculated there could be several reasons behind Del Ponte’s statement made Tuesday. “It could be the frustration of a woman who finds that all is not as she would wish it to be at the end of her career. It could be her arrogance leading her to believe what she does is the most important thing in the world,” the daily says. Koha concludes that Carla Del Ponte is “in the service of Belgrade, in exchange for a promise that war criminals will be extradited.”
