U.S. Kosovo expert rejects Ceku’s “rosy” scenario 12 September 2007 | 11:02 | Source: Beta *NEW YORK -- James Jatras says that international leaders must work on finding a compromise for Kosovo’s status. * The American Council for Kosovo Director said that the solution for Kosovo’s status problem must be based on a realistic compromise between the Serb and Albanian sides and that Kosovo Prime Minister Agim Ceku’s “rosy” scenario needs to be rejected. “Rather than facilitating further instability, crime and human-rights violations in what inevitably would be a failed state, the international community should reject Mr. Ceku's rosy scenario as the fiction that it is,” Jatras writes in the latest edition of the Wall Street Journal. Ceku’s ideas regarding the status of Serbs and other non-Albanians in an independent Kosovo are, according to Jatras, “a cruel mockery” of the situation. “Two-thirds of Serbs and a similar proportion of Roma, Croats, Gorani --not to mention all of Kosovo's small Jewish community - were violently removed from the province. This terror was inflicted by members of the 'Kosovo Liberation Army', whose former commander was the very same Agim Ceku,” he said. “Mr. Ceku is also primarily responsible for the fact that virtually none of those who were forced to flee have been able to return in safety. The prospect of their doing so under a ‘continued but lighter presence of NATO-led peacekeepers and EU-led police’ is nonexistent,” Jatras said. Džatras: Odbaciti ružičasti scenario Agima Čekua Evropski i drugi lideri treba da rade na istinskom rešenju za Kosovo, zasnovanom na realističnom kompromisu dve strane i da odbace "ružičasti" scenario kosovskog premijera Agima Čekua, ocenjuje direktor Američkog saveta za Kosovo Džejms Džatras "Umesto da olakšava dalju nestabilnost, zločin i kršenje ljudskih prava ..., međunarodna zajednica treba da odbaci Čekuov 'ružičasti' scenario kao maštanje što i jeste", piše Džatras u najnovijem broju "Vol strit džornala". Džatras smatra da umesto toga "evropski i ostali odgovorni lideri treba da rade na istinskom rešenju za Kosovo, putem pregovora, zasnovanom na realističnom kompromisu između albanskih težnji za samoupravom i srpskog suvereniteta i teritorijalnog integriteta". Ideje kosovskog premijera o budućem statusu Srba i ostalih nealbanaca u nezavisnom Kosovu jesu, prema Džatrasovoj oceni, samo "okrutno ismevanje". "Dve trećine Srba i sličan broj Roma, Hrvata, Goranaca - da ne pominjem malu jevrejsku zajednicu na Kosovu - nasilno su proterani iz pokrajine", navodi Džatras i dodaje da su "teror izvršili pripadnici Oslobodilačke vojske Kosova čiji je bivši komandant bio upravo Agim Čeku". Džatras dalje piše da je Čeku "najodgovorniji" što se niko od raseljenih nije mogao da bezbedno vrati, a ta mogućnost ne postoji ni "uz dalje, ali lakše prisustvo mirovnjaka NATO i policije EU". http://www.pressonline.co.yu/
