Sun and Zimonjic, the fifth seeds, beat Indian duo Sania Mirza and Mahesh Bhupathi 7-6 (7-4) 6-4 in one hour and 21 minutes. The win is Sun's first grand slam victory and Zimonjic's second - the Serb also winning the 2004 Australian Open mixed doubles title. Sun and Zimonjic started with an early break, but Zimonjic's serve was broken soon after, with the set eventually going to a tie-break the fifth seeds won. They continued their momentum by breaking Bhupathi in his opening service game.
